BROWARD/PALM BEACH COUNTIES RACE 4 BIRDS - OCTOBER 10, 2015
Florida's first Race 4 Birds took flight on Saturday, October 10.
Twenty young "racers" in six teams covered Broward and Palm Beach Counties for 6 hours and tallied over 70 species of birds. An awards luncheon was held at the Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach. Spearheaded by R4B National Director James Currie, the R4B was supported by Broward Audubon, South Florida Audubon, Everglades Birding Festival, Nikon Birding Adventures, Broward County Parks and Recreation and NatureScape Broward. Georgia YBC Founder Tim Keyes also shared his experiences with the organizers. The sponsors were pleased with their first effort and are already planning a May, 2016 R4B! The R4B Foundation is enthusiastic about helping all potential host organizations build their own R4B events. We provide guidance, custom checklists, prizes and now have the ability to help each host organization raise funds for their own R4B event -- all completely free of charge.
